Anthony Giaccio Celebrating 20 Years with the Napa Valley Wine Train

In celebration of 20 years, we have six dedicated employees who have been with us since the very beginning. Over the next few weeks, we are going to be sharing their fondest Wine Train memories as they also celebrate their 20 year anniversaries working with the Wine Train.

I would like to introduce to you Anthony (Tony) Giaccio, his position: Chief Financial Officer. Tony is a third generation Napkin. He interviewed for the Controller position at the Wine Train 20 years ago. He was right out of college and managed to negotiate a part-time position which ended up being 3 days off during the first 3 months of operation. He was then promoted to Assistant Controller within one year. In five years time, he added the human resources to his title. For the last nine years, he has been our Chief Financial Officer.

When asked to recount those first days 20 years ago, he remembered calculating the first dinner train tickets by hand because the new registers did not work. Twenty years later, we are adding a new register system -- on our actual birthday, September 16, 2009. Next time you see Tony, ask him how the new registers are working and if the roll-out plan was more successful than the first one, 20 years ago.
