A Day at the Wine Train Station

One of the things I hear the most about my job is how surprised everyone is over all the things that go on at the train station and rail yard. One of my biggest problems is being able to spend enough time at my desk.
Besides all the regular marketing duties, there are some very fun aspects of a “Day at the Wine Train:"
On Monday, I escorted train enthusiasts – who made a special trip from England to visit several American trains -- around the rail yard and watched how excited they were to get a glimpse of our Train Master, greasy and in overalls. I love it when I see excitement light the eyes of people when they see up-close-and-personal our antique behemoths of yesteryear. The glory of these engines comes immediately alive to me in that instant.
love talking to Andrea while she is zonked out tired in Miami (midnight her time, 9pm ours) but, so excited to hash out the day’s activities at Pow Wow that she calls despite her fatigue. And when I crawl lazily out of bed at 6 am, she will have already been at work for more than two hours.
Tuesday, I shopped the Farmer’s Market and ran into neighbors and friends. I bought cherries, peaches, apricots, and yes, KettleKorn.
Wednesday and Thursday, the in-station play Baggage will resume and run (I am sure) to a full-house. I am sad that this week is the last two performances. I can’t tell you how much fun it is have our own live theater almost within ear-shot of my desk.
Friday? Well, it is the kick off to Memorial Day weekend and the Valley will be chock-a-block with people taking well deserved time off. I will see a few hundred of them on Friday morning sipping wine during the tasting seminar at 10:30 a.m. What a way to start the weekend.
