The Wine Train Social Club

The first meeting of the Wine Train Social Club occurred on Easter Sunday, April 11 2009. It was a classic spring day with gentle weather and greenery everywhere you would look.

Only two members of the club were in attendance, and of those, one did not realize that she now belonged to a newly organized guild. Actually, the idea for a club didn’t occur to me until after a couple of glasses of sparkling wine and Chef Kelly’s Wine Country Benedict (filet, poached egg, Béarnaise).

The Wine Train Social Club was an impromptu meeting of two single diners on one lovely day. I very much enjoyed meeting and sharing my decadent Easter meal with Toni. We shared grown children, life stories, and a spontaneous rendition of La Bomba on the keyboard in the wine tasting car (no, we did not play it; but I did sing along).

Perhaps, you would like to be a member of the Wine Train Social Club? We are not taking applications at the present, but it is easy to belong. Just make a new friend, either on board or off, and meet for drinks and friendship on the Napa Valley Wine Train. And, let me know if you are traveling alone. I might be able to find a reason to join you.
