Share the magic of the Napa Valley in June as the sun sets at 8:28 pm. This moon is named the 'Full Strawberry Moon' because strawberries are harvested at this time of year. Our Moonlight Escape gourmet dinner takes place upstairs in the Vista Dome rail car with its almost 180-degree view. Guests glide over the evening vineyards touched with the silver light of the rising moon. This is a five-course dinner, including a glass of sparkling wine. There is seating for only 24 couples.

Sip and Supper enhances the Gourmet Express package by also including a winemaker led pouring in the lounge car before dinner. Sip and Supper guests will begin in the Wine Train’s fully refurbished, lounge car, where they will sample Hall wines, ask questions and learn more about the wine making process. After the 90 minute tasting in the lounge car, guests will be redirected to the dining car where they will spend the remainder of their journey being served a fresh, multiple course dinner. Daring and Dastardly Detectives deliberate on death and . . . book rights? A number of the world's greatest detectives are gathering on the Napa Valley Wine Train to see who will receive the royalties to the recently published best seller, called “The Detectives’ Club.” Under the terms of the contract, any of the eight detectives who are alive at midnight will share in the royalties - $5,000,000. The Caldwell Vineyard began to gain international exposure in the early 1990s thanks to the highly praised Chardonnay and Merlot vineyard-designate bottlings from Pahlmeyer Winery. Since that time, the acreage devoted to vines have expanded dramatically and the list of clients has grown to include Phelps, Mura, Maris, Neiman, and Viader. The Caldwell label was launched in 1998 with 400 cases of a proprietary red wine, crafted from the finest blocks on the vineyard. In 2002, the Caldwell’s began excavation of a cave on the estate.
