Baggage -- The Play
It's All About the Baggage
By Taylor Bartolucci and Barry Martin
Every time I visit the Napa Valley Wine Train station, I feel excitement in the air. There’s a buzz as passengers prepare to get on the train - they know they’re about to have a great time and create a lifetime memory. We're feeling that kind of excitement about the live theatre we'll present at the Wine Train Station soon. This unique special event is a celebration of the Wine Train’s 20th year in Napa, and Lucky Penny Productions is thrilled to be a part of the fun with our production of "Baggage."
“Baggage” is a sweet and funny story about Phyllis Novak and Bradley Naughton who meet when their bags are mixed up after a train trip. Bradley is a mess since his wife left him, and Phyllis decides to make him into the man she wants. But Dr. Jonathan Alexander, an overly-helpful psychologist, insists they are a terrible match and can never be happy. Mix in Phyllis' slightly twisted friend Mitzi, and you've got a funny love story everyone relates to because sometimes we struggle to relate to each other. As Bradley puts it, "We all come with baggage. But together maybe we can help each other unpack."
Lucky Penny Productions is a new Napa theatre company that we have co-founded and "Baggage" is our first production, and we are having a lot of fun playing Phyllis and Bradley. We brought in a pair of talented local actors to join us – June Alane Reif to play Mitzi, and Dal Burns to play Dr. Alexander. The show will run for only four performances – May 13-14 and May 20-21 at 7:30pm each time – and will be presented in-the-round inside the Wine Train station. Seating is limited, so we suggest you reserve your seats now by calling 800-427-4124. Tickets are $20 each.
