Wine Train on Martha Stewart's Radio Blog

Our very own Ryan Graham was on Martha Stewart Living Radio on March 11, 2010. He tasted three Napa Boutique wines. The wines and his tasting were then featured on the Martha Stewart Radio Blog.

Wine Inspirations from the Napa Valley Wine Train

March 12, 2010

During a visit to Napa Valley, you will occasionally hear the sounds of an oncoming train; its whistle announcing the arrival of a unique wine-tasting restaurant-on-wheels; the Napa Valley Wine Train.

Joining me this week on “Living Today” was Ryan Graham, director of wine for the Napa Valley Wine Train. Ryan shared some wonderful wines and pairings that, whether you are riding the rails or dining at home, are perfect any time of year!

First is Jericho Canyon Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc. You will find notes of honeydew melon, pineapple juice, and even kiwi in this wonderful wine. This choice pairs wonderfully with prawns and other seafood. It’s priced at around $29.

Next, ZD Pinot Noir Carneros 2007 ($40). Ryan says this wine brings you black cherry and red plum flavors and even some hints of vanilla. Pair this wine with fish such as salmon and Tuscan bean stew.

Finally, you might consider this selection: Meadowlark Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah Napa Valley 2005 ( $35). You will enjoy flavors of black cherry, red raspberry and (surprisingly) a hint of bell pepper! Try this wine with steak and roasted beef tenderloin.
