3 Events and 3 Great Causes
The Napa Valley Wine Train participated in three events in St. Helena/Calistoga on Saturday, June 20, 2009.
Chef Kelly Macdonald and I provided a barbecue for Sunrise Stables in St. Helena. Sunrise Stables rescues horses from neglect, abuse or abandonment. At this special facility, riders of all ages take special care of these horses giving the best treatment possible. Saturday’s event raised money for the stables to continue its efforts in rescuing and taking care of the horses.
In the evening, Chef and Andrea traveled to Beringer Vineyards for the first Napa Valley Pride Barbecue. We served smoked cauliflower soup, smoked salmon, and chives. Proceeds from this event and other Pride Events this weekend were for CARE Network Program at The Queen of the Valley Medical Center. This program promotes wellness and disease prevention, and to help individuals with chronic conditions better manage their own health needs.
Melodie Hilton, Director of Marketing, attended the Midsummer’s Night Dream at Castello Di Amorosa. This event was a fundraiser for Napa Valley Hospice and Adult Day Services. Napa Valley Hospice takes care of people who have reached their last phase of life. Adult Day Services is a phenomenal organization that serves family members with chronic health issues. It is a support network for care givers in our county.
(Melodie adds: And, we served lunch to more than 200 people celebrating Father’s Day. Does that count as community service?)
