Wine Train’s New Two-Winery Tour
Over the past almost 20 years, the Napa Valley Wine Train’s path has been a bit predictable. After all, we have a set of tracks that were laid down more than a century ago, and our multi-ton leviathan pretty much needs to stick to them.
But with the participation of a couple of local businesses, the Wine Train recently, well, jumped the tracks. We now offer a wonderful tour of two mid valley wineries thanks to the use of an executive shuttle provided by Beau Wine Tours.
Napa Valley Wine Train guests disembark the train at an up valley stop, once they have finished their three-course gourmet lunch (and maybe a little libation).
The executive shuttle transports guests first to Raymond Vineyards where they will be treated to a barrel tasting and sample select Raymond Reserve and Small Lot series red and white wines. After the tour and tasting at Raymond, guest’s then travel to ZD Wines via the beautiful Silverado Trail. At ZD Wines, the small group will tour the cellar, perhaps view the winemaker at work, then relax and enjoy the view and the wine maker's selection of wines in ZD's exclusive tasting room. In this stunning, glass-walled room you can sit down, overlook the valley and finish with a spectacular tasting of current ZD releases paired with artisan cheese and assorted nuts.
A leisurely half hour ride south on the scenic Silverado Trail takes guests back to the Wine Train Station. Cost for this day-long experience: $180 per person.
