Just before boarding, our photographers snap your picture in front of the train for a fun memento. Then, a whistle blows to signal we’re on our way. You’re served a welcome glass of bubbly while the train leaves the station. From our immersive open-air car, expansive vineyard views greet you before a stop at the iconic Napa Valley welcome sign. At the iconic Napa Valley Welcome Sign, guests are welcomed into the open-air observation car for an exclusive tasting of three Napa Valley Wine Train private-label wines hosted by our Maître d’. Surrounded by vineyard views and one of Napa Valley’s most recognizable landmarks, it’s the perfect opportunity for photos, storytelling, and a deeper connection to Wine Country.

Charles Krug — established in 1861 — invites you behind the scenes with a visit to California’s oldest continuously operating winery. Inside the stunning Redwood Cellar, sip from an incredible collection of wines while discovering the fascinating history of the Mondavi and Krug families and the estate’s important role in shaping Napa Valley winemaking.
Back on board, an indulgent palate-pleasing Bay Area locally sourced cheese course is served as you travel to the next winery. The extraordinary Napa Valley landscape, seen from the comfort of your seat, complements every bite.

2:00 PM - 3:20 PM | V. Sattui Tasting & Something Sweet
You pull into V. Sattui in scenic St. Helena, home of Napa Valley’s Main Street. Here, you discover more about this rustic award-winning winery founded in 1885 and indulge in a four-wine tasting, finishing off with a rich madeira. V. Sattui remains one of Napa Valley’s most beloved destinations, known for its welcoming atmosphere, award-winning wines, and rich winemaking heritage. Their Mercato, with a full-scale tasting room renovation completed in 2026, is worth a fresh visit to experience the impressive reenvisioning of this winery icon.
On the journey back, you’re treated to a final dessert course prepared by our pastry chef. The perfect way to end your voyage? As the train journeys back through Wine Country, many guests gather in the 1054, affectionately named after Studio 54, open-air observation car to enjoy the scenery, share stories from the day, and even join in a little dancing. It’s a joyful tradition that often becomes one of the most memorable moments of the experience.

As your full-day Napa Valley adventure draws to a close, you disembark and visit the Wine Store & Gift Shop to uncover cellar treasures and one-of-a-kind souvenirs.
Making for a full day, many guests continue their Napa Valley adventure afterward with dinner in Downtown Napa, a stroll through the Oxbow, or additional downtown Napa winery tasting room visits, or a leisurely evening exploring the surrounding area.

Totally Worth It!
Took the legacy tour, don’t be fooled by the large price tag, it’s really worth it, the staff on the train are top notch, very friendly and make you feel like the center on the universe, think the food is going to be blah? Nope, I would happily pay $150 a person in a restaurant for the quality of the 4 course meal we got!
A Must Thing To Do While In Napa
The most fun thing to do in Napa! Highly recommend to everyone! I recommend the Legacy tour with food included. The food was delicious as were the wines that we tasted on board. The 2 wineries we stopped at were informative and offered great wine to taste and buy.

What an experience. The train, the wine, the food, the staff, the views, the people you will meet, it’s all just special, and worthy of the price of admission. Our car is just so beautiful and comfortable, we were experiencing an abnormally cool morning, and to our surprise, the train car was so comfortably warm, and by the afternoon, the AC matched the warmth outside. J is the best, and I mean the best, I hope all that book has the pleasure of experiencing her wealth of knowledge and her warm, welcoming personality. Jorge knows how to entertain, an amazing MC, and his dance party at the end is a perfect finale. Oh, and about the wine and food….chef’s kiss. My pork tenderloin was dangerously good, and my wife’s beef tenderloin made me dip into her plate more than once. Also, I don’t have the most expert palate, but the wines on the train are so good! Long story short, just book it and prepared to feel like its one of the best decisions you’ll make in life

The Wine Train was a fantastic experience (Legacy Tour). The staff/team members at the Depot and on the train were all great and truly cared about delivering an unforgettable experience. We’re looking forward to returning and Napa and experiencing The Wine Train, again!
Fun Experience on the Train
Riding the Napa Valley Wine Train was a great experience. The staff was so accommodating and upbeat, and the food was excellent. The stops for wine tasting were very well run and informative, and we learned much about the history of the area. By the end of the ride there were many of the passengers dancing to music in the open air car, celebrating a great time.

We took the “Legacy Experience,” and it was our first visit to Napa. Staff was great. Train was clean and comfortable. Views were amazing. Food was great. Visits to wineries were wonderful. Highly recommend.

Met the Best People, Had the Best Food
This trip was absolutely magical for us. We are three childhood friends in our mid thirties, and really wanted to do this and it did not disappoint. The food was incredible, the views and experience was great, our wine tasting with Miguel was so fun and the dance party with the great music in the open air cart was my favorite of all. We met a couple of ladies celebrating their retirement and 70th birthday and they were the best company as well, overall we are forever going to cherish this memory.

This was the most magical day! The staff was amazing, kept everyone hyped up and taught us so much about wine and the wine-making processes. The food and wine were exceptional. The 2 wineries were visited offered beautiful tastings and their grounds were lovely.
