Día de los Muertos has become a beloved and popular holiday throughout Mexico and beyond, and now it’s made its way onboard the Wine Train together with Raymond Vineyards and JCB. Sometimes confused with Halloween, there’s nothing scary about this beautiful, colorful celebration of life and death. A national holiday in Mexico, Día de los Muertos is now recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. We bring this celebration to the Wine Train on an unforgettable journey through the Napa Valley that is filled with traditional elements of this beloved holiday. Your celebrations begin with a Día de los Muertos reception at the Station. Sip JCB bubbles, wine and decadent JCB spirits & cocktails and enjoy a sampling of the fine cuisine of Atelier, an epicurean boutique in the heart of Yountville. Savor a curated assortment of cheese and charcuterie sourced locally in Napa and Sonoma and Street Tacos. Get into character and have your face painted in the image of the traditional La Catrina calavera (skull) by a Día de los Muertos face painter and then capture your look with our photo booth. Once on board, your journey—and the festivities—really begin! Travel through Napa Valley and travel back in time to the romance and luxury of vintage train travel of the early 1900s. And into the world of Día de los Muertos, with more food, festivities, DJs, and dancing.
