5:30 PM | Your Journey Begins

The anticipation begins at McKinstry Street Station. You check in with our team, queue to board, and take a moment to learn about the history of the Wine Train and its station.

5:50 PM | Boarding Call

With the sun still high in the sky, you’re welcomed aboard. It’s almost time to leave the station by the time you take your seat, and excitement is in the air.

6:20 PM | Time to Depart

After sounding its whistle, the train departs the station, and your first course is served. A melody of flavors fills your senses as you try our chef’s amuse bouche and sip a delightful splash of CHANDON By the Bay.

6:30 PM | Bon Appétit

Your journey continues north as the second course is served, featuring a frisée arugula salad with chevre goat cheese paired with a crisp St Helena sauvignon blanc from Charles Krug. A soup du jour follows shortly for your third course, accompanied by a glass of Tate chardonnay from Yountville’s Dillon Vineyard.

7:30 PM | Arrival In Rutherford

Arriving in Rutherford for our runaround marks the halfway point of your experience. A delicious fourth course of fresh herb and garlic prawns highlights this section of the trip, along with a single vineyard pinot noir from Belle Glos sourced from their Carneros Eulenloch vineyard. As your feast for the senses continues with a sumptuous tenderloin of beef and BV Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet for your fifth course, we gently turn back toward our train station.

8:50 PM | Farewell For Now

After a selection of decadent sweets, a duo of cheese, and a final sample of world-class wine, your whirlwind seven-course journey comes to a close. As the sun finally begins to dip below the horizon, we say farewell for now but look forward to welcoming you back on board the Wine Train.

Special and Unique experience, Great Staff!

My boyfriend and I did the Tasting on the Rails experience. We loved it! The team on our car (Tammy, Ricky, and Lelani) worked extremely hard to ensure that everyone had an excellent experience. They made the experience even more great and took time to talk to each group. All of the wine was amazing and paired with the food well.

Exceptional Time!

Took the 7 course wine pairing. Wine was good, food exceptional, train car was fun but Tasha was the best!

Grand Time On The Rails

Great Service, Would Def Recommend!

My partner and I did the tasting on the rails experience and we loved it, food and wine pairings were great. Thank you!

Tasting On The Rails, Pricey and Worth It

Like the French Laundry, Tasting on the Rails is a once (maybe twice) in a lifetime, must do, experience. The service is top shelf. The food is very good and the wine pairings are outstanding. We have been coming to NorCal wine country for over 10 years…this was our first time on the on the train and we loved it!

Worth All 2,000 Miles

I saw the wine train experience on Instagram and did my research on the train itself and just knew I had to make a visit happen. You really can’t lose from the moment you step inside of the store and ticket counter your experience begins. Quaint little store to shop for wines and spirits to take on the trai. And have chilled and served with your meal or just as a souvenir. There are 9 cars all have been remodeled and still hold the early 1900s decor, it’s really a beautiful experience and the food is amazing. I had the opportunity to tour the whole train from top to bottom. They have a glas domed area that you can enjoy lunch or dinner in that’s a bit more intimate and the views are breath taking, they have an upstairs domed area for what feels like a romantics date setting, they have cars for your dessert and coffee to lounge and enjoy. And of course the time capsule of the box car that looks like something completely out of 1916 where a 7-course meal is prepared and the seating is reminiscent of that area. I have to say my favorite part was the Secret Garden car where beautiful flowers hung from the windows and top of the boxcar. I met the Chef who was gracious and made such amazing food. This experience was top tier all the way through. I will definitely be back.
